Alejo Moreno interview in the magazine Freek!

usual signature in the credits of the program "Cinema Days ", Seville Alejo Moreno was inspired by an old legend from Granada to breathe a magical aura to a short film and classical honda presence, which has received contributions from the master class as in f / x Colin Arthur or musician Julio de la Rosa. We climbed to "fig" from the hand of its author.

" The fig tree is based on an old legend rooted in the city of Granada, to what extent we have forgotten the dream world, imagination and the story in cinematic storytelling?

There are a number of productions of fantasy films today but I think the majority has lost its essence: the ability to recall. This occurs because there is a goal pursued. They are so concerned to make credible images (and indeed do) that are not interesting, lack magic. It's all so individual, loud and overwhelming that there is no room for abstraction, nor to the viewer's imagination.

If anything highlights the short is impeccable care of the forms: no nonsense plan, recreation in the picture, right pace and unhurried ... Is it a contrast to the vast majority of short circuit current?

I think so. I tried to introduce the viewer into a mysterious visual and sound universe. I think the film should try to be quite an experience, no matter how formula. I did not care much for developing a script to build complex as hypnotic forms speak for themselves. I think that's why the short appeals to both children are attentive audience and open-minded.

you come from television, even in a quality program as "Cinema Days" with Antonio Gasset, what positive or negative influence, see the "sketch" or "gag" TV in the short overview of the current? Total

and disturbing, in fact I think it shows in many of the young English filmmakers to go from short to long, rolling TV criteria, most important for them to be gimmicky, fast, rough sinning is not a problem . You may have immediate commercial success but it is a future investment. It is paradoxical that occurs at a time when the U.S. is doing just the opposite: to bring to television format film structures. A movie requires more than a drum roll for film.

What were your references when facing a challenge as ambitious and yet so seemingly simple as "The fig tree?

David Lean's films in particular. I think his films have that value. They seem simple but when you look closely the notices that contain a narrative skills, technical and intellectual caliber of reach.

Where do you like to throw in your next project? Do you have something already in progress?

Yes, now I'm going to New York, where we have selected in the Sephardic Film Festival, to shoot a video clip, but threatened with several short films and a feature film. All of them related to legends worlds that no longer exist but have much to say to the ear are capable of thoughts aside for a moment the daily turmoil.
